- ➤ Local leaders in Sheffield Village say Ford is shifting production from electric to hybrid vehicles, delaying work planned for this spring until 2029 — the pivot still promises 1,800 new jobs and ongoing local business interest. News 5 Cleveland
- ➤ Burt Saltzman (the longtime leader who built Dave's Markets and opened its Middlebury store) died at 88 on January 13; his funeral is held today at 2 p.m. at Congregation Mishkan Or in Beachwood. Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ Dragon Restaurant and Bar in Akron is serving Nepali and Indian dishes that bring Himalayan flavors to local diners. Reporter Kerry Clawson and her family recently visited the restaurant to sample the menu offerings. Akron Beacon Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, the Ohio EPA provided $2.1 million from a national settlement to fund a project that will convert two diesel locomotives to electric power for Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. The conversion will reduce fuel use and emissions on its 26-mile route through the national park. Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ The U.S. Department of Transportation removed about 3,000 CDL training centers last month for unsafe practices and gave flagged centers 30 days to prove compliance; 15 Northeast Ohio centers were flagged, including Manchester Local Schools (in Akron), Train 4 Less in Mayfield Heights and Train 4 Less in Norwalk. - ➤ FDA warns consumers not to use Live It Up brand Super Greens powder with expiration dates from Aug. 2026 to Jan. 2028 as salmonella infections occurred, three to four cases in Ohio. - ➤ On Jan. 14, the Zips beat Ball State 87-77 at Rhodes Arena. Senior guard Tavari Johnson scored 22 points + seven assists while forward Amani Lyles added 19 points and 12 rebounds as the team built an early lead before Ball State narrowed the gap late. Akron Beacon Journal
- ➤ After Buchtel defeated Firestone on Jan. 13, a postgame fight erupted when fans swung belts at the opposing team's logo at the Firestone court. One Firestone player needed stitches from a belt buckle hit as authorities reported the incident was linked to earlier actions. Akron Beacon Journal
