- ➤ University of Akron’s Physical Facilities Operations Center on Hill Street caught fire Friday, Jan. 23, leading to a safe evacuation while Akron Fire Department responded to extinguish the flames; officials said a crane had been removing a cooling tower when they advised the public to avoid the area until further notice. - ➤ On Jan. 23, the Main Thing Skills Summit offered Akron job seekers hands-on career guidance, panels from top companies and networking opportunities at House Three Thirty on 532 W.
