- ➤ City officials paused plans to demolish the Firestone Plant after a state office required saving its 106-year-old clock tower. Progress Through Preservation of Greater Akron will lead a Feb. 5 discussion at Corrigan Hall (17 S. Maple St.), while city meetings run from Feb. 4 to Feb. 12 at Firestone Park Community Center. - ➤ Say My Child’s Name is raising funds to build a memorial for children and grieving parents at Adell Durbin Park in Stow. Cindy Billideau, who lost her daughter to fentanyl poisoning, has raised $10,000+ to create a peaceful space with benches and a wind chime for reflection. Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ Akron’s I Promise 2 Fashion Show featured nearly 30 models and seven designers at House Three Thirty on Jan. 30. Teen participants worked as models and support staff while celebrating creativity and honoring a late mentor (Joshmere Abdul-Baari Muhammad). Signal Akron

- ➤ GasBuddy data released Monday shows that gas prices in Akron dropped 19.2 cents to $2.68 per gallon while Cleveland prices fell 11.8 cents to $2.76 — the national average changed only slightly. WKYC

- ➤ Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and Ohio State University are among the top 50 in Time magazine's ranking, with CWRU at No. 27 and Ohio State at No. 33, based on an evaluation that uses graduates' success as a metric (the list was published on Jan. 28). Akron Beacon Journal
