- ➤ The City of Akron and the Akron Parks Collaborative have opened registration for the 2026 Akron Parks Challenge, letting residents help plan $150,000 in improvements for a neighborhood park; registration ends Feb. 23 and full applications are due April 6. News 5 Cleveland
- ➤ Akron kids built a rainbow igloo in a front yard using 119 pans of colored water as part of a snow day project. They worked with adult help over several days to learn teamwork and science—providing a playful display for neighbors until the ice melts soon. Akron Beacon Journal
- ➤ Cuyahoga Valley National Park will hold a volunteer open house on Feb. 28 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Happy Days Lodge – the event will offer details on citizen science, lock demonstrations, and habitat restoration, co-managed by the National Park Service and the Conservancy. Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ Amaya Phelps said mold in her Spring Hill apartment has harmed her and her son’s health, prompting the city to order mold removal in two units at 1180 Rentar Lane on Feb. 5.
