- ➤ Local outdoor ice skating rinks are closing soon as warmer weather arrives; Lock 3 and downtown Cuyahoga Falls rinks end operations on Feb. 16 while Canton’s Hall of Fame rink will close on Feb. 28 and Furnace Run at Summit Metro Parks stays open based on ice conditions. Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ Akron's own Devo (formed in 1973) will play at the Akron Civic Theatre on June 3; ticket sales begin (10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13) for the hometown show. This summer concert promises a nostalgic return for the band. Akron Beacon Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Daylight saving time will begin Sunday, Mar. 8 when clocks move forward one hour at 2 a.m.; astronomical spring will start Friday, Mar. 20 while state and federal legislation to make DST permanent remains pending. Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ In honor of National Children's Dental Health Month, Dr. Brian Martin (a pediatric dentist at Akron Children's) advises parents to brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, limit sugary drinks, and schedule regular check-ups to protect their child's smile. WKYC
- ➤ Patient visitation remains restricted at Akron General Hospital following a water main break over the weekend, though some exceptions are allowed. Outpatient appointments resumed Monday and callers should contact the hospital (for details) before planning visits. News 5 Cleveland
