  • Fast Eddie's Kitchen & Bar is set to open this week in a new Parma location while Baci Winery is hosting a vertical tasting of seven Chardonnays on Friday, Feb. 20 and the Brews, Bourbon & BBQ fest will move to 7 17 Credit Union Park in downtown Akron.  Cleveland.com

  • A local man won a $3.5 million jackpot after playing the same six lottery numbers for 22 years, with his winning ticket sold at a Mapco in Akron on Feb. 4. He chose the cash option + plans to buy a house and set up a home gym.  Cleveland 19 News

  • Leland Snell, a transformation coach in Akron, leads adult conditioning classes and youth boxing sessions at the Kohl Family YMCA at 477 E. Market St.—he teaches emotional regulation through his CALM initiative and supports addiction recovery while planning a new facility to integrate fitness with mental health.  Akron Beacon Journal
  • Ohio Chapter of Crisis Response Canines (CRC) helps calm people during crises by sending trained K9 teams in Northeast Ohio to use deep pressure therapy to ease anxiety. SPORTS NEWS

  • ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas ranked both the undefeated Miami RedHawks as number 26 and the Akron Zips as number 51 on his Bilas Index. The Zips (21-5, 12-1 in the MAC) will compete next in the MAC Tournament from March 12-14 at Rocket Arena.  Akron Beacon Journal
  • Keiryn McGuff scored 22 points (a career-high) and hit the winning basket in a double overtime game as Akron overcame Ohio 108-105 at James A. Rhodes Arena on Wednesday night (pushing their MAC Tournament hopes alive).  WKYC
  • Greater Akron high school football players will compete on the North team in the annual all star games on April 25 at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium in Massillon.   • The Ohio High School Athletic Association released the tournament schedule for Akron-area boys basketball teams (Divisions III-VII). Games will be played from Feb. 23 to Feb. 27 at various local venues.  Akron Beacon Journal
