- ➤ Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church will host its annual Easter Bake Sale on April 1 and 2 at its space (128 S. Union St.) in Akron. Volunteers have prepared Greek pastries for sale and online pre-orders are open through March 30 to support local philanthropic efforts. Akron Beacon Journal
- ➤ Kisling, Nestico & Redick took part in the Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump today to help the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank by raising $20,647. The team included 20 jumpers and seven supporters and marked its ninth year of braving cold waters in New Franklin. Akron.com

- ➤ The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad returned to the rails on March 7 and now offers two scenic ride options in the national park—a four-hour roundtrip from Rockside Station and a one-hour express ride from Peninsula Depot with a themed St. Patrick’s Day train ride at 6:30 p.m. today. Akron.com
- ➤ Downtown Akron will host the 43rd annual St Patrick’s Day parade beginning at noon March 14 — the route goes from Cedar and South Main streets to Bowery and will feature bands, nonprofits, and floats followed by awards and an Irish-style party at Hibernian Hall. Akron.com

- ➤ Akron Public Schools will break ground on a $76M Pre-K+8 building at the former Kenmore High School campus next Thursday at 11 a.m. The project will bring together Pfeiffer Elementary and Miller South performing arts programs while converting the old school into green space, parking and playgrounds. - ➤ Summit County Engineer Alan Brubaker announced the winners of the 25th Annual Miniature Bridge Building Competition held on March 4 at the Summit County Fairgrounds in Tallmadge, which drew 37 teams from 18 schools (a record turnout). - ➤ The Ohio Department of Natural Resources released over 80,000 rainbow trout at 93 spots beginning March 11, and will add a release at Boettler Park Pond on March 26 — to offer local anglers spring fishing. - ➤ During a March 9 committee meeting, Summit County Council reviewed a resolution to declare March Women’s History Month and discussed updated SNAP work requirements that could close nearly 2,400 cases by May. - ➤ U.S. Rep Emilia Sykes has launched the application process for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for high school students in the 13th District. Original artwork will be displayed in the Capitol for one year & entries are accepted until March 27 at her Akron office. Akron.com

- ➤ The FTFB Collaborative has launched a second round of Infant Health Fund grants to improve maternal and infant health in Akron neighborhoods hit hardest by infant mortality. Up to 10 awards ($3,000 to $5,000) will be given to eligible nonprofits; applications are due April 1 and winners announced May 15. Akron.com
