- ➤ Southwestern Ohio native Capt. Curtis Angst, 30, died on March 12 when a KC-135 tanker crashed near the border of Iraq and Jordan — he served as a pilot with the 121st Air Refueling Wing. Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ Closing arguments began on Monday, March 16 at Summit County Common Pleas Court in Akron in the trial of former FirstEnergy executives Chuck Jones and Michael Dowling. Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ Akron announced the first wave of national touring acts for Lock 3 summer concerts, with Gin Blossoms, Carl Thomas, Tom Keifer and Gerald Albright scheduled for six shows. - ➤ On March 16, Akron City Council approved spending $500,000 in HOME funds to convert the historic Beacon Journal building (44 E. Exchange St.) into 120 affordable apartments.
