  • Homelessness in Akron has risen sharply since the pandemic, affecting older adults and children most. The Emergency Overnight Warming Center on East Voris Street served about 70 guests nightly over 61 days last winter (with 4,200 overnight stays) while local officials plan long-term housing and zoning reforms.  Signal Akron

  • On April 7, the Urban Design and Historic Preservation Committee met in Akron to discuss plans for Firestone Plant #1's future.
