- ➤ Keep Akron Beautiful is hosting Clean Up Akron Month to help volunteers clean up the city for spring and summer outdoor activities. The group has set events in Ward 4 (check-in at 8:00 a.m. and cleanup from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on April 12 at 1303 Copley Rd) and at the Patterson Sports Complex (check-in at 8:00 a.m. and cleanup from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on April 26 at 955 Patterson Ave), and volunteers can also organize their own cleanups on any public land in Akron during April. - ➤ Friends of Main Library is hosting the Big Book Sale at Akron-Summit County Main Library in Akron on Friday, April 25th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 26th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. where patrons can fill a bag with books and media for $5 (free parking is offered for one hour on Friday and all day on Saturday), and the sale will support library programs while taking place on the second floor and in the Library Shop. - ➤ Akron announced a new agreement with Dynegy to provide 100% carbon—free energy as electric rates rise from 4.97 cents to 9.24 cents starting in May. The 13—month deal allows residents to opt out by calling 311 and will be renegotiated next year. News 5 Cleveland
- ➤ Bruce Bolden and N.J. Akbar are running for Akron's vacant Ward 8 City Council seat after James Hardy resigned in July 2024.
