  • Layne’s Chicken will soon open a new location at 1350 W. Pleasant Valley Road in Parma—adding to over 20 sites nationwide. The fast food chain began in Texas in 1994 and is known for its Soon to be Famous Chicken Fingers.  FOX 8
  • Aldi is offering limited-time Aldi Finds deals that began April 23 and include Cinco de Mayo chocolate truffles for $3.29, Maine lobster tails for $12.99, and mini empanadas for $4.99. The deals are available at 170 stores nationwide including five in Akron (while supplies last), so shoppers should act quickly.  Akron Beacon Journal

  • Ohio Contemporary Ballet will honor Heinz Poll tomorrow at E.J. Thomas Hall by reviving his dances Planes/Configurations and Light Breeze—two works unseen for over 20 years—while a pre-show panel with former Ohio Ballet dancers shares his legacy in Akron.  Akron Beacon Journal
  • Elvis Costello will perform with his band the Imposters at the Akron Civic Theatre on Sept. 27 as part of his Radio Soul! The Early Songs of Elvis Costello Tour. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. April 25 and the show will feature songs from his albums from 1977's My Aim Is True to 1986's Blood & Chocolate.  Akron Beacon Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Akron Mayor Shammas Malik released the list of roadways to be resurfaced in 2025 — the plan covers 34 new miles and 14 miles of carryover roads. He added that a concrete pavement rehab program will focus on Ward 6 to improve road conditions.  iHeartMedia
  • Lyft driver Eric Makowski said Akron's pothole-filled Sherman Street is costing him flat tires that take him out of work. City officials said they are patching the road (with lead line work and full resurfacing planned for next year) and pothole repairs are usually completed within 3-4 days.  News 5 Cleveland
  • Yesterday, the Ohio Department of Transportation promoted safe driving in work zones with its annual 'Go Orange for Safety' campaign to remind drivers to slow down near construction sites. The agency reported nearly 4,000 work zone crashes last year — 22 fatal and 123 seriously injured — and said its crews have already been hit 59 times this year compared to 84 last year.  News 5 Cleveland
