- ➤ The Akron Zoo announced that it will debut more than a dozen new and returning species in its renovated Legends of the Wild area on Saturday, May 16. Visitors can explore conservation-focused exhibits featuring animals like white-faced sakis and sun conures up close. Cleveland.com
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in Ohio jumped over $4 per gallon yesterday with an average of $4.18, according to AAA, while Putnam and Mercer counties offer the lowest fuel prices and Erie County the highest; officials expect prices to drop only when market conflicts ease later this year or in 2027. - ➤ Akron-based FirstEnergy will file a three-year rate increase proposal with state regulators on May 22 that may raise monthly residential electric bills by about $4 to $5 if approved, as the company plans upgrades to wires, poles, and equipment (to improve power service starting in 2027).
