- ➤ Two Barberton High School seniors recently signed letters of intent to pursue college careers, with Joseph Ondo III planning to study and play basketball at Hiram College and Blake Leary set to focus on soccer and academics at Marietta College. Akron.com
- ➤ APS Board of Education approved resolutions on April 27 to complete the state's role in the district's reconstruction of Community Learning Centers (CLCs). The district is set to recoup nearly $1.9 million, which will help address cuts in the 2026-27 budget. Akron.com
- ➤ At its April 21 meeting, Revere Local Schools renewed superintendent Dan White's contract for three years, effective Aug. 1, 2027 through July 31, 2030 (he replaced Michael Tefs in 2025). The board also approved updates to curriculum and retirements of long-serving administrators. Akron.com

- ➤ Akron Zoo’s Komodo Kingdom Café was named the 2026 Greenest Zoo Restaurant by the Green Restaurant Association. The café earned 366 GreenPoints through 77 environmental steps including a geothermal heat pump and solar array. Akron.com
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Akron volunteers — 65 people selected as part of the Akron Civic Assembly — are meeting weekly from March 14 until May 14 to review local housing challenges. They will present nonbinding recommendations to city officials this summer to help guide future plans for addressing high rents and absentee landlords. Akron Beacon Journal
- ➤ Bath Township Board of Trustees met on April 20 to review Yellow Creek water quality, with Sarah Barrow noting that macroinvertebrate tests show a mostly healthy ecosystem despite one problematic site.
