- ➤ A 31-year-old man was arrested on May 5 after his stolen vehicle crashed into an Akron apartment building & several police cars, sparking a pursuit on Morningstar Drive that ended when his car was pinned against a tree and two officers were hospitalized. Akron Beacon Journal
- ➤ Anthony McCants, 23, was indicted by a Summit County grand jury for murder and seven counts of child endangerment after he allegedly forced a 12-year-old to endure two prolonged ice baths (the first lasting 45 minutes and the second at least 30 minutes) following a March 22 call for a cardiac arrest on South Balch Street at around 2:30 p.m., and an arraignment has not been set. - ➤ Authorities recovered the remains of Xavier Menefee, a 22-year-old man reported missing on August 1, from a fire pit at a homeless encampment near Silver Avenue after officers responded to a fight, and dental comparisons confirmed his identity+ officials are now investigating how he died.
