- ➤ Middle schoolers from Akron Kids Against Gun Violence premiered their micro-documentary 'Talking Kids Off The Trigger' at the Akron Urban League on Thursday, May 7, in partnership with TomTod Ideas (a nonprofit). EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ After voters rejected a levy on May 5, Streetsboro City Schools confirmed they will implement planned cuts that include reducing staff, canceling extracurricular activities, and shortening kindergarten hours; the board will meet on May 14 to discuss next steps (more details are pending). - ➤ Akron Public Schools approved the next phase of an $85 million project to build a new North High School designed for 1,100 students (up from 900). Construction will begin in 2027 and the building will open in the 2029–30 school year with parts of the old facility reused. Signal Akron

- ➤ Drivers in Akron should expect nightly I-76 and I-77 ramp closures for drainage repairs starting today between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. until May 14, and additional pavement work in Fairlawn and Bath Township will begin May 18. Akron Beacon Journal
