- ➤ Summit Lake NorthShore Park in Akron opens Saturday with a covered pavilion, picnic shelters, boathouse for free kayak and canoe rentals, and a fishing pier. The park is part of a long-planned project to provide an accessible, welcoming public space around the 100-acre lake. Signal Akron
- ➤ The city of Akron offers free summer meals for eligible youth ages 18 and under from June 8 to July 31. Meals will be served Monday through Friday at community centers and city locations with food prepared by Akron Public Schools. Akron Beacon Journal
- ➤ Paws and Prayers Pet Rescue in Cuyahoga Falls offers its Forever Foster program to help senior pets with medical needs find homes while covering vet care and medications (expenses covered). - ➤ Tuesday Musical announced its final season for 2026-2027 featuring six concerts with headliners Audra McDonald and Itzhak Perlman & Friends through May 4, including opening Oct. 20 at E.J. - ➤ Akron city leaders presented a proposed agreement with WM to close the outdated Fountain Street waste transfer station and build a modern facility on East Archwood Ave in East Akron. - ➤ Akron Children's Hospital opened a pediatric primary care practice at its 4118 Medina Road facility in Montrose in summer 2025; four board-certified pediatricians are now offering well-child visits, immunizations, and same-day sick appointments (serving families in Copley, Bath, Medina, and Norton).
