- ➤ An Akron man won $25,417 in the Ohio Lottery's Pick 5 drawing after playing his birthday numbers (3-2-5-5-8) on May 8, with the winning ticket sold at the Firestone Mini Mart on Aster Avenue. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ ODOT announced nightly closures at Akron’s Central Interchange from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting tonight (May 17) through May 22 for bridge painting, with additional ramp and lane closures on I-77 and detours planned for pavement repairs through mid-July and late August. Akron Beacon Journal
- ➤ Akron City Council will vote on a deal that requires WM to donate $1 million over 10 years—plus $40,000 annually for Joy Park—as it replaces the Fountain Street waste site with a new facility on Archwood Ave, with construction set to finish in 2027 if approvals come through.
