  • ➤ A shooting in a McDonald’s parking lot at the 1800 block of Merriman Road in Akron killed 23-year-old Diamond Fisk early Sunday when officers responded to reports that a crowd outside the Empire Lounge would not leave (Fisk was pronounced dead at 2:16 a.m. at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center).  Cleveland.com

  • ➤ Local 501(c)(3) nonprofits serving Akron’s youth can apply for grants from $500 to $5,000 to fund sports and wellness programs as part of a city initiative that commits $100,000 to cover fees, coach training, and equipment safety measures.
