  • A series of charity events will take place in Akron and northeast Ohio next week, starting with the Run 4 Hope 5K Run & Walk at Bath Community Park on May 30, which benefits the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge.   • 96-year-old Max Bowers from Munroe Falls received a long-awaited Purple Heart nearly 75 years after a 1952 injury after his granddaughter compiled records and secured the medal.   • A $1.75 million gift from the Elisabeth Severance Prentiss Foundation will enable Kent State University’s College of Public Health to expand its Mobile Flashes program across Northeast Ohio, doubling outreach to underserved communities and giving students more hands-on learning opportunities.  Akron Beacon Journal
