  • A new veterans housing project is in the works to build the Thompson Family Veterans Village near the Valor Home in Akron. The 10-home project will hold a groundbreaking on June 25 with construction starting this summer and a 2027 opening planned to help low-income and disabled veterans.  News 5 Cleveland
  • Entrepreneur Matt Kaulig will host the final four-year Kaulig Companies Championship in Akron from July 9-12 with a pro-am event on July 8 and a Bailey Zimmerman concert on July 10 at Firestone Country Club, featuring food trucks and charitable giving.  Akron Beacon Journal

  • Today from 5 to 7 p.m., visitors can join a free do-over party at Inflection, a multisensory art installation that blends shifting LED lights and live jazz in a cargo container at Outside the Box in Northside.   • Akron Mayor Shammas Malik announced that Blimp Day will take place on Saturday, June 6 when two Goodyear blimps will fly (between 9 a.m. and noon) over 24 neighborhoods, celebrating Akron’s long history with airships. The event highlights a unique local tradition.  Cleveland.com

  • Dr. Jeff Hord retired from Akron Children’s Hospital on May 29 after 27 years at the Family Center for Childhood Cancer, with staff celebrating his legacy with bells + maracas.
