- ➤ Multiple charity events will occur in Akron over the next months, beginning with the Haven of Rest event on June 2 at 175 E. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Black Chamber of Commerce (Summit County) and University of Akron are surveying Black business owners to measure their economic contributions. Business owners have until June 30 to submit their confidential seven-minute survey, and about 150 responses have been received toward a goal of 500. Signal Akron

- ➤ One Ohio Lottery ticket earned a $50,000 prize in Saturday's Powerball drawing that showed winning numbers 1, 27, 35, 44, 52 with Power Play option (2x) while thousands won smaller prizes statewide. The jackpot climbs to $180 million for today's drawing at 10:59 p.m. WKYC

- ➤ Portage County became designated a Purple Heart County and a stop along the Purple Heart Trail in Ravenna on May 28, 2026. - ➤ Akron native Kya Epps, a University of Cincinnati graduate with Type 1 diabetes, won gold in the 100 meter dash and had a strong showing in the 200 meter dash at the BIG 12 Championship in Arizona earlier this month.
