CRIME NEWS

  • Akron police arrested 22-year-old Jakel Blackwell after a shooting on March 10 at the Field House Lounge when off-duty officers heard gunshots during a fight at a concert and three people were hurt—Blackwell now faces charges of felonious assault, having weapons under disability and carrying a concealed weapon.  Cleveland 19 News
  • Juror Christine Richards now doubts Tyrone Noling’s conviction for the double murder of Cora and Bernhardt Hartig in Atwater Township and says if the Innocence Project does not secure a new trial soon, Gov.   • Akron police arrested 31-year-old Martinez Williams for the murder of 24-year-old Ontario Bradley after officers responded at 3:42 a.m. on May 31 to a shooting on Darrow Road—where Bradley received a fatal gunshot wound—and Williams is now held in Summit County Jail.  WKYC

  • Kenmore residents organized a pop-up protest after school officials announced that plans to build a new Pfeiffer Elementary and Miller South School face a projected $10 million budget shortfall.   • On Tuesday, June 3, Mayor Shammas Malik addressed residents at Lock 3 as Goodyear blimps flew overhead and he detailed progress on public safety, economic development, housing, and sustainability initiatives in his second State of the City address.
