  • Akron Mayor Shammas Malik will host a ribbon cutting for the expanded Patterson Park Community Center at 800 Patterson Ave on June 10—doors open at 5:30 p.m. with remarks scheduled at 6 p.m. and guests receiving snacks and giveaways. The 12,400-square-foot center, funded by American Rescue Plan Act dollars, will offer new meeting rooms, a game room, an art/gardening room, an outdoor playground and space for indoor volleyball, pickleball and basketball.  Akron Beacon Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Police responded early Saturday morning to a domestic dispute on Bee Bee Circle in Akron where a 22-year-old man died and a 44-year-old man was injured; investigators later arrested 21-year-old Antoine Pixley + charged him with murder, felonious assault, and domestic violence after he fled the scene.  News 5 Cleveland
