- ➤ Akron’s Main Street Saloon has served free lunches to kids for 13 years in the Firestone Park and South Akron neighborhoods, providing meals five days a week during the summer. The owners use donations and family funds to prepare meals such as macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets, fruit and a drink — a tradition started by David Kennamore and continued by his daughter — and they plan to keep the program going. - ➤ Akron Police reported that 21-year-old Antoine Pixley attacked his mother and stabbed his roommate and stepfather on Bee Bee Circle last weekend — he is now in custody and charged with murder. iHeartMedia
- ➤ After Megan Keleman was fatally shot at a Stow drive-thru last August when her car was hit by Jason Williams who then shot himself, her family is working with state Sen. Casey Weinstein on a law—Megan’s Way Out—that would require drive-thrus to add escape lanes, with Weinstein set to introduce the bill on Aug. 14 and Stow officials planning a local zoning change on June 24 to require a 10-foot bypass lane. - ➤ A 22-year-old man, identified as Dierre Williams, was fatally stabbed on June 7 at a home on Bee Bee Circle in Goodyear Heights after a fight over a reported assault on a mother escalated—officers later arrested his roommate, Antoine Pixley, on charges of murder, felonious assault, and domestic violence.
