  • Former Akron police captain Doug Prade was denied parole at a June 4 hearing for killing his ex-wife and will remain in prison until at least 2033—board members said his crime’s severity outweighs any positive factors for release.  Akron Beacon Journal

  • An Akron woman won $150,000 playing the Ohio Lottery's Monopoly Bonus Spectacular 25X scratch-off game at a Circle K on South Hawkins Avenue—she will get $108,000 after taxes to help buy a home. A Portage County woman also won $300,000 in the Feeling Lucky game at a Walmart Supercenter in Ravenna and will receive $216,000 after taxes.  Akron Beacon Journal
