CRIME NEWS

  • Akron Police investigated the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy on Friday night near South Rhodes Avenue and Oberlin Court—officers arrived at 5:31 p.m., and he was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  Cleveland 19 News

  • Matt Hartong runs Summit County’s only dairy farm in Green where heavy rains delayed planting essential crops for his 200 cows — his family now plans agritourism and fall festivals to help boost the farm’s finances amid growing development pressures.   • An Atwater woman won a $300,000 prize on a Feeling Lucky $10 scratch-off ticket purchased at the Walmart Supercenter at 2600 State Route 59 in Ravenna. After state and federal taxes of 28%, she will receive $216,000—official figures from the Ohio Lottery confirmed.  WKYC
  • An Akron woman won $150,000 on the Ohio Lottery’s $5 Monopoly Bonus Spectacular 25X scratch-off at Circle K #5598 on South Hawkins Avenue—after 28 percent in state and federal taxes she will receive about $108,000 and plans to buy a home.  WKYC

  • The Ohio High School Softball Coaches Association announced its All-Ohio teams for the 2025 season, recognizing high school players from the Greater Akron/Canton area.
