  • Akron’s Innerbelt project was first planned to remake an old highway but shifted after community meetings and federal funding input. City officials and design experts said the new plan—focusing on neighborhood investments, affordable housing and better connections—involves 55 projects that will help repair the harm done by the road and benefit local residents.  Signal Akron

  • Akron native Mike Carson launched a bitcoin wallet named Akron—supporting the new Spaces Protocol—to honor his hometown and his cypherpunk ideals; he also plans to revive Friendster and will measure success by the number of names registered.  Signal Akron

  • Events honoring Juneteenth are planned across Ohio with live music, cultural activities and family fun scheduled from June 13 to June 22. In Akron, local partners will host a series of events on June 21 including a parade, musical celebration and food trucks—showing the city’s strong community spirit.  Signal Akron

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland said that tariffs raised costs for businesses in Ohio and parts of Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky—some of these costs have been passed on to customers. Interviews and surveys showed that manufacturers and retailers are already raising prices and expect costs to continue rising in the coming months.  News 5 Cleveland
