  • An RV turned mobile grief therapy unit has helped locals cope with loss by offering quick support after tragedies, and its nonprofit co-founders Sharri and Anthony Thomas have seen a strong impact on people like Lisa Cutner. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Stow-Munroe Falls High School revised its coaching staff for next season, with longtime boys basketball coach Dave Close retiring in February, girls basketball coach Bob Podges’s contract not renewed in May, and baseball coach Aaron DeBord resigning in June. The district hired new in-house teacher coaches including Chet Feldman and Andy O’Keefe—changes that have sparked controversy over the school’s new direction.  Akron Beacon Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On July 2, Summit County secured $550,000 in state funds for projects in Stow and at the Akron-Canton Airport — Stow will add a traffic signal at the busy intersection of Seasons and Allen roads while the airport builds an access road for a new 12,000-square-foot hangar.  Akron Beacon Journal
  • Early Friday, water main breaks on Morningside Drive and Delia Avenue led Akron officials to issue a boil water advisory for about 1,000 Highland Square addresses, urging residents to boil tap water before use. Crews worked on repairs on Friday and the alert remained in effect until 18 to 24 hours after water pressure was restored—officials planned to update residents when it was safe.  FOX 8
  • Officer Jamieson Ritter’s family marked one year since his death in the line of duty by holding a remembrance event and sharing memories of his service—honoring his sacrifice for the community.  Cleveland 19 News
