CRIME NEWS

  • Ryan Vietmeir, 43, was arrested on murder and domestic violence charges after he allegedly fatally shot his 75-year-old father, Dennis, at a home on Cynthia Lane in Tallmadge on Sunday morning—officers responded quickly and EMS confirmed the victim died soon after care at Akron City Hospital while police continue their investigation with no public threat.  WKYC
  • Ar'mon Covington, 26, was fatally shot at about 4:15 a.m. Saturday at a BP station on Grant and East South streets in Akron—he intervened when he saw a man harassing women in the parking lot and the suspect fled without being arrested, police said.  Cleveland.com
  • In Tallmadge, police identified 75-year-old Dennis Vietmier as the man killed on Sunday on Cynthia Lane when his son, Ryan Vietmier, shot him, and Ryan was charged with murder & domestic violence.  Akron Beacon Journal
  • Three kids and one young adult were shot and more than a dozen people were hit by fleeing cars early Monday morning in the parking lot of Mason Community Learning Center, and police recovered over 100 shell casings — they are now canvassing the area for more evidence.  Signal Akron
