- ➤ At around 3:10 a.m. on July 7 a mass shooting at Mason Community Learning Center in Akron left five people shot and at least 10 injured as vehicles fled in chaos—officials and community leaders urged stricter gun safety laws, expanded youth programs and enforcement of the 11 p.m. curfew for minors to address rising youth gun violence. - ➤ Akron officials approved a draft housing plan on June 13 — a 2025‑2029 action plan that aims to repair aging homes and boost economic opportunities for low‑income residents.
