- ➤ The Akron Zoo said its 19-year-old lion Tamarr has early-stage chronic kidney disease and is kept off exhibit while animal care staff monitors his health (he will turn 20 on Aug. 25). - ➤ The Akron African American Cultural Festival will run from July 18 to 20 at Lock 3 Park where families can enjoy live music, food, free haircuts and health screenings presented by the Akron African American Cultural Association. Scheduled performers include DJ EZ Money, Mike Austin and Melrose Eve on Friday, DJ Hitman, Russell Thompson, Timi Funk and The Beck Ward Project on Saturday, and DJ Tashabeats, Djapo Cultural Art Institute and Rayr Image on Sunday (festival hours: Friday 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday noon to 9 p.m.).
