Polsky Humanitarian Award at an Oct. 14 dinner at the DoubleTree by Hilton Akron Fairlawn for their work in addressing food insecurity and community needs in Akron—efforts that include creating the Venarge Family Food Pantry and Resource Center, Mount Hope Cemetery Corp, and Food From Friends. - ➤ Akron police took 30-year-old Deshawn Jalen Jeffrey into custody on Wednesday after he shot a 26-year-old woman near Bellevue Ave and fled into a wooded area, leaving her with non life-threatening arm and chest injuries—he now faces charges of felonious assault and assault. FOX 8
- ➤ Akron police said a 26-year-old woman was shot early on July 16 in Sherbondy Hill and taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General with non-life-threatening wounds — a 30-year-old man named Deshawn Jeffery was arrested after fleeing the scene — he faces charges of felonious assault and assault.
