  • Akron Police say a female Uber driver was shot on Thursday night on Sanford Avenue after picking up two male passengers – one of them fired a shot that injured her arm and abdomen; no arrests have been made.  iHeartMedia
  • A 24-year-old Akron woman rushed home after spotting two armed men on her Ring doorbell just past 3 a.m. Sunday on Stadelman Avenue near West Exchange Street, and a shootout ensued when one suspect fired shots—police are now searching for the intruders after finding over 15 bullet casings in her driveway.  Cleveland 19 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Kent State University's Porthouse Theatre began in 1969 on the Blossom Music Center grounds when a group of strolling players performed during a Cleveland Orchestra concert and soon became a training ground for student and professional theater artists. Donors and community support helped build and expand the venue—hosting over 3,000 shows and nearly 400,000 audiences—while this summer the season will end with School of Rock performances through Aug. 3.  Akron Beacon Journal

  • Mike Toth is a water protection specialist at the Akron Water Supply Bureau who monitors the city's watershed to keep drinking water safe.
