- ➤ Today in Akron, Akron Honey is turning a vacant lot on Jefferson Ave. into a public market space—dubbed the Yellow Brick Road District—that will host vendor, foodie, and farmers markets in the coming months. - ➤ The 42nd annual National Night Out will take place in every ward in Akron on August 5 to promote community safety and strengthen ties between residents and police. - ➤ Federal funding delays halted the long-running Senior Community Service Employment Program on July 1, leaving over 270 seniors without about $200 in weekly income and putting local nonprofits under strain. Local leaders and affected seniors are now seeking temporary solutions while waiting for an update from the federal government. News 5 Cleveland
- ➤ Akron Municipal Court set a dress code for all appearances effective July 1—attorneys must wear suits while litigants cannot wear flip flops, pajamas or undergarments on display. To help those in need, the court accepted clothing donations on Wednesday and will hold another drive on Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon to offer resource room attire for court and job interviews. - ➤ Akron issued a drinking water alert after tests found haloacetic acid levels slightly above the limit at two zones—6,600 customers in those areas will get mailed notices. City water managers said the water does not pose an immediate health risk and that they are adjusting treatment processes while planning next tests in October. FOX 8
