ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Thursday evening, a fire spread through multiple businesses and apartments on the 300 block of Exchange Street in downtown Akron causing the roof to collapse and displacing three people while firefighters put out the blaze by 8 p.m.—First Energy and police responded and no injuries were reported.  Cleveland 19 News

  • Akron police reported that a 69-year-old man was struck by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon as he tried to cross East Market Street and that the driver fled the scene—officials said the victim later died at Summa Akron City Hospital.  iHeartMedia

  • Shoppers in Northeast Ohio are saving money during a two-week sales tax holiday that lets most items under $500 be tax free—boosting sales in stores like Thriftique Showroom in Bedford Heights. State officials say they will help fix errors from last year and expect the tax break to save Ohioans nearly $295 million in total.  WKYC
  • In Akron, a Circle K customer—who bought a 50th Anniversary Millions game at 1750 Brittain Rd.—won a $1 million lottery prize and chose the cash option, netting about $360,000 after tax withholdings.   • Ohio public universities will charge new in‐state full‐time students an average of $13,211 in tuition and fees for this fall—this average marks a slight increase from last year and comes as state law limits hikes to 3% while locking in tuition rates for each incoming class.  Signal Akron
