Akron Pickle Fest returns on August 10 at Lock 3 at 200 Main Street from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.—the festival offers pickle-themed food vendors, wacky pickle games including a Pickle-lympics from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and a chance to make your own pickle jar in the banquet hall—and free admission.

The Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau launched the Summit Sweet Stroll — a trail featuring 20 shops that sell ice cream, popcorn, and candy.

Participants must complete a digital or print passport by visiting at least 16 shops and redeem it at the John S. Knight Center by 5 p.m. on May 29 — receiving a limited-edition ice cream scoop and entry into a $250 prize drawing if they are 18 or older.

A new community health foundation — the Trailhead Community Health Foundation — is forming from the sale of Summa Health and will set its budget once the sale finalizes, with first grants expected more than a year later.

Over 100 community leaders met at the Akron-Summit County Public Library to discuss local needs, including housing and social factors affecting health in five counties.
