- ➤ On Friday, a man was sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting 24-year-old Paige Calich on the porch of her Akron home last summer while she was with her 3-year-old son—Denzel Pope, 20, was previously convicted on related charges and his sister pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Summit County Public Health inspected many food places in July and found Talamo’s in Akron had 16 critical violations—problems like an inaccessible handwashing sink and rodent droppings that could lead to license issues if not fixed.
