ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Twinsburg firefighters rescued an 8-month-old baby from a two-alarm basement fire on Sunday after a panicked homeowner called 911; the team used thermal imaging and swift tactics—with help from multiple units—to lower the child safely amid over $90,000 in damages. FOX 8

- ➤ Alanni Clark, 14, has been missing from Akron since June 5—FOX 8 and Amanda Berry are working together to locate her, and anyone with information is urged to call 330-375-2530. FOX 8
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The new Netflix documentary about Devo, an Akron art-rock band known for its quirky style and hit song 'Whip It', debuts today—using archival footage and interviews to show how the band mixed art with protest. The film details their beginnings at Kent State and the events that sparked their bold message. WKYC
- ➤ Downtown Akron will host the Akron Pride Festival on August 22 and August 23 with a 5K race starting at 6:30 p.m. on the 22nd and an Equity March beginning at 10 a.m. on the 23rd — marching from the Spaghetti Warehouse to Lock 3. The festival features performances, fireworks, food trucks, and a children's area — and it is scheduled later in the summer to avoid competing with June Pride events. Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ The Akron Urban Design and Historic Preservation Commission rejected the city’s plan to demolish historic Firestone Plant 1 on August 5—voting 4-1—and the city may appeal the decision to City Council.
