  • Today, the Concert Truck, a mobile concert hall with two pianists in a converted box truck, starts its tour at Summit Lake Farmers Market at 4 p.m. It will perform at Community Hub in North Hill tomorrow at 6 p.m. + Akron Urban League on Thursday at 12:30 p.m., Mustill Store Museum at noon and historic Barder House on Friday at 7 p.m. + and finish at Lake Anna Park in Downtown Barberton on Saturday at 5 p.m.  iHeartMedia
  • Labor Day weekend in Northeast Ohio brings many events including the Akron Pizza Festival at Lock 3 Park from August 29—30, the Asian Lantern Festival at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo now extended through September 13, and the National Air Show at Burke Lakefront Airport from August 30—September 1. Local residents can enjoy live music, contests, food, and crafts during these festive celebrations.  FOX 8

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Akron Airdock has long been known for a local myth that rain falls inside — a legend sparked by Robert L. Ripley’s 1930 cartoon. The massive hangar, now leased to LTA Research, remains closed to the public while engineers explain that temperature drops cause condensation that some call rain.  Akron Beacon Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • GasBuddy data showed that gas prices in Akron rose 33 cents to average $3.39 per gallon this week, while Cleveland prices increased 31 cents to $3.37 per gallon. The national average was only $3.12 per gallon — indicating that fuel cost spikes vary by region.  WKYC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Workers at the Akron-Summit County Public Library voted to unionize after months of organizing. The union results will be certified on Sept. 18 if there are no challenges — library employees will then start contract talks to improve wages, benefits, and safety.  Akron Beacon Journal

  • Akron football head coach Joe Moorhead is starting his fourth season with the Zips and will lead his team when they host Wyoming on Thursday, August 28 at 7 p.m.—he is a former college quarterback with coaching stints at Fordham and Mississippi State—and he values family time and a mix of 90s R&B, hip hop, Motown and country music.  Akron Beacon Journal
