- ➤ Labor Day weekend brings many outdoor events to Akron and NE Ohio, including food truck and pizza festivals at Hardesty Park and Lock 3, an air show at Burke Lakefront Airport, and the Asian Lantern Festival at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. East Akron and Barberton hold parades on Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.—other events include a concert at Blossom Music Center and a Made in Ohio Festival at Hale Farm & Village. Akron Beacon Journal
- ➤ The Akron Zoo is offering free tickets to Summit County residents during Community Days in September to thank them for their tax support. Residents must reserve up to four tickets per household online using a valid Summit County address. FOX 8

- ➤ Akron police are asking anyone with information about the fatal shooting of 18-year-old DaVierre Hale on Aug. 17, 2020, near McKinley and Talbot as his family continues to search for justice—remembering his devotion to his son and caring heart. WKYC

- ➤ Akron choreographer Dominic Moore-Dunson has been named a 2025 Lloyd Richards New Futures Resident Artist and will begin a yearlong fellowship at The Wilma Theater in Philadelphia in October—working on planning productions like The Snow Queen in November and The America Play in May. He will continue managing his own dance projects while aiming to work on Broadway as a director or choreographer. Akron Beacon Journal
