- ➤ On Aug. 27, FirstEnergy removed an osprey nest from a transmission pole in Coventry Township along Manchester Road near Pav's Creamery after months of drone monitoring, as the nest had contributed to electrical outages this spring in the Barberton and Portage Lakes area. The removal caused a five-minute power cut for about 200 customers, and the company will remove six other nests from the region—efforts aimed at reducing future outages. Akron Beacon Journal

- ➤ Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio finalized layoffs of 20 staff—an effort to save over $1 million after facing sharp federal funding cuts and a projected $10 million revenue loss from Medicaid defunding and Title X cuts.
