- ➤ Families in Akron brace for fewer SNAP benefits this fall as new work requirements may cut aid for veterans, youth aging out of foster care and homeless persons — groups previously exempt. - ➤ The city of Akron and community partners are spending $950,000 on a 12-month pilot program called the Unified Early Learning System — a project that will help childcare centers and teachers while giving families better early education.
