ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A crash occurred overnight on S. Arlington Road in Green when a Suzuki Kizashi with a 17-year-old driver lost control, hit a ditch, and overturned, with alcohol appearing to be a factor while the unbelted driver was taken to an Akron hospital and later pronounced dead. FOX 8
- ➤ A 17-year-old boy died early Sunday morning after his 2011 Suzuki Kizashi lost control on South Arlington Road in Summit County— the Highway State Patrol is investigating the crash and has not released his name. News 5 Cleveland
- ➤ Early on Sunday, OSHP said that a 17-year-old driver lost control of his 2011 Suzuki Kizashi on South Arlington Road near Lake Breeze Drive, crashed off the road, hit a ditch and flipped multiple times, and he died at Akron City Hospital+alcohol appears to have contributed to the crash. - ➤ Ernest Shropshire, 38, of Akron pled guilty to charges in a drug conspiracy that involved distributing meth and fentanyl while supplying drugs from his backyard between April 1 and Aug. 28 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison—he will also serve 5 years of supervised release after imprisonment. - ➤ Akron marked its bicentennial by looking back at key local events from the week of Sept. 7— a 1825 meeting to plan a canal, a burial in 1875, crews dealing with overfilled bins in 1925, the appointment of William Nye in 1975 to guide regional goals, and the opening of a time capsule at Perkins Stone Mansion in 2000. - ➤ The Cleveland Browns hosted the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m.—the game aired on Fox and was covered on local radio in Akron. The matchup followed a tough 3–14 season for the Browns and featured partly sunny conditions with a chance of showers near kickoff. Akron Beacon Journal
- ➤ The Brunswick Boys Soccer team will travel to Buckeye High School on Sept. 13 for a game raising funds for Noah Kotlarek, a 6th grader battling cancer, with former player Jackson Powell organizing the event. The junior varsity game starts at 5 p.m. and the varsity game begins at 7 p.m.—tickets are required or a toy or donation to Akron Children's Hospital grants free entry. News 5 Cleveland
