- ➤ On Sept. 10, water from the sewers flowed into the Cuyahoga River after treatment at Akron’s Water Reclamation Facility. Workers removed debris and organic solids—using sedimentation, floatation and about 30 minutes of disinfection with Sodium Hypochlorite—to ensure that clean water was released into the river. - ➤ Akron is finishing a $1.2 billion sewer overhaul and will raise rates in coming years to pay off loans, which may shift its prices to the middle range of Ohio cities.
