- ➤ On Sept. 21, protestors gathered outside the Firestone Plant 1 to urge city officials to reconsider a full demolition of the historic building and its iconic clocktower built in 1910—local councilman Donnie Kammer said he will propose a vote to explore preserving the front part of the structure despite high salvage costs.
