- ➤ Bath Business Association thanked sponsors, members, and partners for the record Road Rally as 30 teams took part and raised over $2,000 for a local scholarship program. - ➤ Chowder House, a seafood restaurant in Akron’s Merriman Valley that had been open for 16 years, closed permanently after a nearly year-long construction project cut its business by more than 50%—coupled with equipment failures and a steep rent increase, co-owner Louis Prpich said. - ➤ Akron is planning a zoning change to regulate new vape and smoke shops after a Sept. 29 public hearing introduced rules to end a 180-day moratorium on permits. The proposed rules require shops to obtain a license or face a $500 fine—while new shops must maintain set distances from schools, community centers, and other active shops—and exempt current businesses from distance restrictions. - ➤ Ohio municipalities hosting marijuana dispensaries have not yet received the tax money they were promised as the funds remain tied up at the state level.
