- ➤ Voters across Northeast Ohio will decide on several school levies and bond issues on November 4 that will fund repairs, renovations, and new construction in districts from Geneva to Tallmadge—measures designed to support school operations and avert cuts. - ➤ The U.S. Department of Education ended a seven-year, $7 million GEAR UP grant for Akron Public Schools—canceling $3.6 million in funding on Sept. 30 after officials noted the district had removed its diversity, equity and inclusion office. - ➤ Ohio’s Rail Development Commission voted to send its draft rail plan to the Federal Railroad Administration for review to help move more freight on rail while reducing truck use. - ➤ Summit County is proposing Issue 2, a charter amendment that will cap property tax revenue increases at 3% as home valuations rise every three years—voters will see this measure on their ballots to help fund public safety services without new tax hikes.
