GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ohio Department of Transportation said three ramps in the I-76/I-77 and Route 8 area will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. today through November 5 — the ramp from I-76 west to I-77 south, from I-77 north to I-76 east, and from Route 8 south to I-76 east — forcing drivers to take detours via I-76 west through the Kenmore leg to Interstate 277 east or Main Street to I-76 east.  Akron Beacon Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Eva Szigethy, a local pediatric psychiatry leader, noted that rising stress from school and social media is linked to more suicide attempts among children ages 10 to 14 in Akron. She urged parents to monitor screen time and talk openly with their children and doctors (including those at pediatric offices and school health centers) to spot early warning signs.  Akron Beacon Journal

  • Fifteen Akron-area high school football teams are set to compete in 13 regional quarterfinal games in Week 12 playoffs—each team aiming for a state title through careful play.
