- ➤ At its Nov. 3 meeting Downtown Akron, Summit County Council recognized Summit Metro Parks’ Fall Hiking Spree which began in 1964 — the event now offers county hikers a staff and shield after completing eight designated hikes between Sept. 1 and Nov. 30. Akron.com
- ➤ The Akron+Summit Convention + Visitors Bureau launched the 2026 Treasure Trail on Nov. 1, a self-guided shopping adventure that directs people to 25 vintage and thrift stores in Summit County. Shoppers must collect at least 16 passport stamps and submit their passport by Sept. 11 to get an exclusive water bottle plus enter a drawing for a $250 prize package. Akron.com
- ➤ The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank has extended its pantry hours — adding evening and weekend times and planning temporary pantries to meet rising food needs amid delayed SNAP benefits and reduced government support.
