- ➤ Domestic violence survivor Diona Clark said she is grateful for Rep. Emilia Sykes’ support for stronger laws for survivors—she recalled standing with Sykes when Ohio House Bill 1 was signed in 2018. - ➤ Nearly 1 million Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco bottles sold at Costco were recalled after bottles shattered and caused one laceration, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said — shoppers in Ohio are advised to discard the recalled bottles and contact Ethica Wines for refund instructions. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Fifteen Akron-area high school teams played in the OHSAA second-round playoffs on November 7—key matchups included Division II games between Hudson and Lake and between Nordonia and Walsh Jesuit. - ➤ Tallmadge’s Allison Hay and Twinsburg’s Sam Hopp were named Akron-Area Athletes of the Week for Oct. 27-Nov. 2—Hay received 49.41% of votes while Hopp got 60.47% of 15,751 ballots; both earned All-Ohio honors at Fortress Obetz with Hopp placing 12th at the state meet. - ➤ Archbishop Hoban girls volleyball advanced to the OHSAA state tournament for the tenth time and played an 11 a.m. Division III semifinal against undefeated Tipp City Tippecanoe on November 7 at Wittenberg University’s Pam Evans Smith Arena.
